About the Trip
This 5-day holiday in Montenegro takes you into the breathtaking backdrop of Black Lake where secret coves, cave pools and beautiful scenery provide the setting for exhilarating water sport activities. Your trip will be hosted by the team at Hotel Marigiana, nestled in the surrounding hills. You will have time to get your heart racing, rejuvenate in the hotel spa, enjoy yoga, pause for meditation, receive treatments to ground your body.
Hosts
Connie and Kyle are a force to be reckoned with. A combination of brain and brawn you can get physical with Connie out on the lakes waters or study the scenery with Geologist Kyle. Both will be on site to take care of you throughout your stay.
Connie Frew
A water baby at heart, Connie is a paddle board, kayak and wakeboard instructor local to the area. She will be your main point of contact during the retreat.
Kyle Oconnor
Kyle has been guiding visitors around Black Lake for the last 5 years and knows the trails and coves like the palm of his hand. Kyle has a geology background and leads the hikes, nature walks and wild swimming excursions.
Schedule
This week is all about reconnecting your mind back into your body, through our guided surf and yoga experience. Everything is taken care of, you simply need to flow.

Orientation
Meet the rest of the group for a introductory hike around the lake as you get to know your fellow adventurers.
Waikato
Wild Swimming
On day one we start with wild swimming. You will start to reconnect with nature as you swim with otters, fish and find hidden coves to explore.
Kayaking
On this 3 hours gentle paddling cruise we will take you across stunning mirrored waters to a freshwater beach to enjoy a home cooked picnic.
Rustic Dining
You will get together with your crew to sample traditional Montenegro cuisine at a candle lit lakeside dinner.
Paddle Boarding
Learn to find balance with a day out on the paddle boards. Great for toning and strengthening.

A serene setting with crystal clear waters
The Black Lake is a stunning glacial lake surrounded by a pine forest, which casts a perfect reflection in the mirror-like surface of the lake. The snowcapped Medjed mountain peak, rising to a height of 2287m, provides the perfect backdrop to the spectacular scenery.

Do I need to be experienced in the sporting activities prior to arrival?
Experience is great but not essential - all the activities have 2 guides who can cater for mixed ability groups.
Is there anything else to do around the lake?
Absolutely! There is a rural town near by with Sunday markets, fine dining restaurants and local attractions to explore.
I'm travelling alone, do you accommodate solo travellers?
Yes! We have options to book a bed in a shared room, and we usually have many solo travellers on our retreats
